I’ve been slacking…kinda?

Well guys…
I moved back to Texas.

Sorry I’ve been away.

I originally was gonna take a week to give myself time to get settled and see the family without any extra stress on myself. One week turned into two..? How’d that happen?

Coming back felt pretty good. It’s nice to be back in familiar places, where you know the roads by heart. It was refreshing to see everyone too I missed my momma. ❤️ The week went by we got settled in, relaxed,socially drained. Then the next week came and still feeling drained/unmotivated to write something worth posting for my blog.

Although I’m proud that I kept writing in my journal, so technically I didn’t fail my goal to write everyday right?

To be real though, I feel setting my very first goal ever to writing everyday is a little hard on myself so the fact that I’m actually writing more than I ever have last year is progress enough.

Here’s my list..

  1. Yoga
    I love yoga and meditation, it’s a new hobby of mine that I’ve been excited to learn more about. Yoga/Meditation has TONS of physical and mental health benefits. Everyone should try it!
  2. Books
    When I’m reading I feel completely transformed into what ever I am reading. I feel as if the world is paused and everything is peaceful around me. Books are movies for your head. When I finish reading a book front to back I get so satisfied and excited to start a new one.
  3. Journaling
    Writing in my journal always makes me feel good. No matter what it is I write about, opening my book to a fresh page reminds me of the person I want to be. It keeps me motivated to continue working on my mental health. It helps to remind me I can be anything I want to be.
  4. Nintendo Switch
    Lately I have been OBSESSED with my Nintendo Switch and video games in general. It all started with Stardew Valley then ever since I’ve played my switch everyday! All kinds of games, Ive been playing: Mario Maker 2, Overwatch, Poker, Graveyard Keeper ,etc.
    Yeah.. I’m just obsessed and I’m not mad about it either. If you don’t have a Nintendo Switch i highly recommend! Then add me as a friend.😊
  5. Candles
    Candles, incense anything colorful that smells good and glows in the dark makes me happy. When I am at home I always light my candles. It gives me peace and wholesome vibes. I don’t feel right if I don’t have a candle or incense burning.

What is your favorite type of music?

I like any kind of music, but I do have a specific type of style I like listening to. My favorite music is any kind of peaceful beats. Any beat that I can dance with and write in my journal too are the kinds of songs I mostly listen to now days.

When I was in high school I listened to rap, R&B, Pop, I still sing along if they happen to come on my shuffle but mostly grew out of that phase in my life. Before that I used to listen to country as a little girl with my dad, and rock with my mom. This was before I knew of any other kinds of music to explore, and I would just catch on to the music my parents listened to. I have Apple Music so when I’m reading or writing I usually play the focus playlist and I love everything that comes on. How could you not like the peaceful sounds of instruments harmonizing?

For days when I want something more upbeat and positive I listen to the Chill Mix my profile has created for me. It updates every Sunday with really cool chill vibes from new and growing artists. If I do happen to listen to actual songs instead of chill mixes and beats. I like my music to tell a story, and who can resist a beautiful voice? I also like to find rare/ not yet discovered artists, for that I use the Apple Music playlist New Music Daily. Honestly like any kind of music with good vibes and cool beats. I play around with Apple Music browse section a lot, because I pay for it every month might as well.. Right?

Many of us struggle continuously with our inner critic. It’s similar to having a miniature devil on your shoulder, but instead of encouraging you to do bad, It belittles and judges you for making the slightest mistake still resulting in an evil person. Just like the time when you cursed the old lady for cutting you off on the highway while out getting coffee or the time you submitted a post online and noticed too late a misspelled word resulting in you calling yourself stupid and putting yourself down. Yeah, we all go through it, and sadly the more we criticize and judge ourselves the more damaging it is to our mental health and can lead to depression & anxiety. Not to worry, because an easy fix is to simply be nicer to yourself, a basic compliment, encouragement and support to ourselves- as if you were comforting a friend or loved one who had been negative about themselves -can go a long way. Happiness is a choice you have to choose every day, to be kind to yourself, and others around you no matter how difficult things can get sometimes. With practice it gets easier and becomes a more natural to who you are.

An unfortunate choice our ancient ancestors had to endure regularly to survive the harsh environment.

Welcome to the first ever post to a new ritual I’m very excited to start.
Every Monday, I will write down a list of positive saying to hopefully get us motivated and help stay inspired for the remainder of the week.
Very rewarding self-esteem boosting technique I’ve been doing for the past couple of months. It’s helped me tremendously in keeping the negative thoughts at bay.
Any time I’m feeling unease or agitated for no real reason, I refer back to my positive affirmations, and I’m all set for the day almost as if I pressed a reset button for my emotions.
